Over the River...

and through the woods to Tegan's first camping experience they went (they = Brendan, Tegan and T's Godfather/Brendan's cousin Jeff) Enjoy the pics - I'll add what I remember of Tegan's commentary on each photo :)

"That's Tegan going camping yesterday"

Mom/Me: Tegan, what's that on your back?
Tegan: That's Tegan wearing a backpack!

"That's Tegan going down the stairs" Mom/Me: Oooh, what are you doing here, Tegan?
Tegan: I'm eating a CRACKER! Mmmmm!
Tegan: That's Tengan doing the tent.
(yes, sometimes he calls himself Tengan with an extra 'n' - too cute)
Mom/Me: You mean zipping the zipper on the tent?
Tegan: Yes, doing the zipper.
That's Jeff!
Mom/Me: Whoa, Tegan, what are you doing in this picture?
Tegan: I'm cooking the hot dog in the fire. Very hot, Mommy!
" Mmmmm! That's Tegan eating the hot dog"
Note: According to Brendan, Tegan ate 2 hot dogs with ketchup, 1 brat on a bun, some graham crackers and several marshmallows and however many cheese sticks Brendan took. And I'm pretty sure that sippy of juice was straight juice, not the 1/2 juice 1/2 water we usually give him. Needless to say, Daddy/Brendan says he was pretty wired for the night. HA!
"That's fire mommy. Very, very HOT!"
"That's Tegan sitting with Daddy"
Based on this photo, I have a feeling the conversation was very intense :) Upon seeing this picture, Tegan just started laughing really hard :)
Mom/Me: Wow Tegan, what's that pretty thing in the sky?
Tegan: That's a RAINbow! Whoooooa! So per-itty!
"Haha, I'm running!"
Mom/Me: Tegan, what did you get to eat for breakfast?
Tegan: PAMPAKES! Mmmmmm!
Mom/me: Are you wearing your fleece AND your swim-trunks?
Tegan: Yeah, but not my Nemo diaper, just my OTHER one.
(Nemo diapers are his swim diapers)
"That's me in the stroller. It's time to go home now"
(after all that he finally referred to himself in the first person, ha!)

Apparently the boys went to bed around 9:30 or 10pm and then T was up with the sun at 6 or 6:30 and announced it was "time to go home now". They arrived home around 11 and word is that Tegan slept in the car the whole way home (about an hour drive). I wish I could have been a fly on the tree, but I also enjoyed MY time alone and even went to Uptown with some long-time friends for a few hours. Needless to say, I'm pretty sure a good time was had by all.
Love to all,

Nemo...

Finding Nemo is Tegan's F-A-V-O-R-I-T-E movie in the WHOOOOOLE world. HA! Thankfully it's a pretty awesome movie that I love too, though not as much as Tegan. Today Tegan spent a lot of time reciting one-liners from "Nemo"... most of the day was saying various forms of the word anemone like Nemo does when Mr. Ray asks him where he lives... cute, yes. Well... about an hour ago we were playing downstairs and Tegan says "Oh, I'm gonna go touch the butt!" I almost peed my pants laughing. If you don't know the movie, the kid fish in it think that a boat is called a butt... apparently Tegan is taking it seriously. Oh boy, haha! Oh, but he wasn't finished. His next statement (stated very seriously but happily) was "Mommy, let's go touch the butt together!" What a boy I've been blessed with!

Another Poem

Well - here I am on my first day of summer vacation and I'm surfing the blogging world and reading of other families who lost their sweet babies. In reality I was just doing my daily blog checks to see who of my blogging friends updated their blogs since yesterday and then sometimes I read the comments and follow those to other blogs. ANYWAY - came accross a blog of another "Angel Mama" which lead me to yet another blog of yet another Angel Mom and I saw this poem. Just wanted to share it - I love how it reminds us that the "lost" babies (and children) of the world are safe in the arms of God in heaven where we Believers will see and hold them again someday when we are called Home.

A Mother to her Child
You dwelt beneath my longing heart,
cherished and soft and warm.
And though you won't go home with me
Where you are, there'll be no harm.
For such a very little while
was my poor heart your home,
and then you left me, precious one,
in Heaven's fields to roam.
No tears shall ever dim you eyes,
no heartache pain you sore,
no sin will stain your lovely soul,
spotless forevermore.
So, Sweet, I will not grieve too much;
not hopeless are my tears.
You there, I here, both loved by God,
both safe through flying years.
And He who carries tenderly
the wee lambs on His breast
Will one day give you back to me,
rapture undreamed, unguessed.
*Martha Snell Nicholson, c 1951
I'm to the point that instead of making me cry, this poem and its message wrapped me in a loving warmth of assurance. Praise be to HIM - the giver of hope, comfort, healing and peace.
