Family Sticker

I'm sure you've seen them... those stickers on the back window of cars (usually mini-vans or SUV's) that depict the family with stick people. Well, I found the website (http://www.ourstickfamily.com/) and "made" our family sticker... I didn't buy it though. They're super expensive and our family is expected to grow a bit more over the coming years :) Thought I'd share what it'd look like now, though.
Other updates include Tegan's first 2 days at daycare. Monday (Day 1) went great! Our daycare provider said T took 2 naps (a.m. for 1 hr and p.m. for 2 hrs), ate pretty well and played like crazy with the other kiddos. Tuesday (Day 2 & today) was a bit different. I noticed when I picked T up yesterday that he had some small bruises in and on his ears... then all evening Brendan and I noticed T pulling and poking at his ears like he does when his teeth (though still under the gums) were bothering him. SO, I gave T some Tylenol before bed last night and again this morning before we left for the day. Well, I guess he didn't get anymore during the day because he didn't nap at all today, wouldn't eat, and was basically fussy all day. Oh well. I told her (our daycare provider) that I'm totally fine with her giving him Tylenol when he's like that and actually suggest it since it makes the world of difference. Needless to say, Tegan went to bed early and has been sleeping like a rock so far, so hopefully tomorrow he'll be well rested and have a better day! :) Please pray that Tegan adjusts to daycare quickly and that I adjust to taking him and going back to work.

Sorry, no new pics... oooh, how about a video of T on the Jumperoo???!!! DANG after 2 long tries it won't upload... :( boo!
Love to all!!!

A Weekend With the Boys

This weekend was that of the 24 hours of Afton race. The race began at 5 o'clock p.m. Friday and ended today, Saturday, at 5 o'clock p.m. Daddy and his team did wonderfully, as expected. They ended up winning by 4+ laps, not too bad when each lap took about 35 minutes, so they were ahead by 140 min. :) Even though there were a few girls there with Mr. T this weekend (Jen Meyer and me) there was a very large amount of testosterone around!
The pre-race festivities included Jen Meyer, Tegan and I arriving at Afton Alps at around 11a.m. to claim a good camping area (i.e. one close enough to tap into some electricity), set up a few shade canopies and... that's about it. :) As you can see, Tegan was very helpful!

Yes, as you can see the Jumperoo made the trip with us... the big boys had their bikes and Tegan had his Jumperoo :)

Right around 3p.m. the guys began to show up. Before we knew it we were heading down to the startline...Since Daddy wasn't the first man to ride he and Tegan got to spend some fun time together.

A little later more help arrived in the form of Brendan's cousin Jeff. Tegan was very excited to have someone to show one of his latest talents... putting his pacifier in his mouth all by himself!
Jeff then began explaining the importance blocks of varying colors and shapes throughout the history of the world... or something like that. Tegan found it VERY interesting!

Before we knew it, it was bedtime (7 p.m. comes quickly)! So, I tried to put T down in the RV (not ours, Brendan's teammate/friend Paul's). After a few hours of Tegan taking catnaps and then getting really crabby I decided it was time to head over to Jen & Chris's house for the night...

Flash forward to this morning... Grandpa Moore was excited to finally get to spend some time with The Big Man (a.k.a. Tegan), so I didn't hesitate to take advantage of yet another set of hands... or shoulders. :)

Tegan also got his first taste of Twizzlers today... after a few licks he seemed to like it, but unfortunately the experience was short lived as he kept dropping it in the grass and Daddy will only lick it clean so many times!
Next thing we knew it was nap time, then lunch time, and then T was already ready for his next nap, so no more pictures to share of the little dude. I did, however, get a chance to go pretend I was a professional photographer and got a few shots I thought were pretty cool... If you are a downhill skier or snowboarder you might like the first one. Bikers will appreciate the 2nd :)

Love to all!!!

Scratch Scratch!

You might think the title of this post refers to Tegan getting scratched by one of the cats or him scratching himself with his dagger fingernails (which I cut/trim several times a week!) but... NOPE! The title refers to what Mr. Man did to me, his beloved Mommy. Yes, Tegan is obsessed (to say the least) with exploring each and every aspect of my face (any one's face he can get his hands on for that matter). Well, I thought nothing of it when he shoved a finger into my nose the other day. I just pulled it out and said "No, ICKY!" Sure, he scratched me a little when he did it, but I like I said, I thought nothing of it. He's done the same thing before and to my hears and nose and, if I let him, my eyelids.

So my nose was sore yesterday, no big deal... my fall allergies are beginning to kick in so I'd been blowing my nose a lot. It wasn't until I woke up this morning with excruciating pain in my left nostril that I was a bit worried... then I looked in the mirror. You can't tell from the photo above, but the left side of my nose was super swollen. Turns out the little scratch I thought nothing of has become infected... yet another thing I never expected to happen in my life. So, after a trip to the Minute Clinic at our local CVS Pharmacy I am now on antibiotics. HA! So, word to the wise (i.e. those of you who have little ones who aren't to this stage of life yet) protect your nose! hahaha!!!

On the developmental front... Tegan's sitting alone is getting better by the day. It's SO nice to be able to sit him down and let him play facing me without me having to hold his hands. It gives us a lot more freedom to play new games. YAY!
I swear, Tegan did that all by himself! :)
OH, so they say to put your baby on their back to sleep... well, this is how we find Tegan each and every morning now

I know, I know... this is obviously not a picture of Tegan sleeping in his crib. I thought I had one, but this IS what he looks like when we get him in the morning. On his tummy!!! My child, who has hated 'tummy time' almost since birth now will ONLY sleep on his tummy! It's so cute to see him all curled up hugging his little animal blankie, sucking on his paci' and sleeping, well, like a baby. :)

One last thing. I know many of you have been dying to see the dresser I refinished... well... here it is:

Now that you've seen it... I know you'll be able to sleep at night again. :) Happy Monday!

Love to all

My Go at Photography

Can you believe that I actually took that picture [above] myself?! The ones below too...I'm trying to get some 'fancy' pics myself... you know, like the ones the professionals take? Tegan wasn't too keen on my 'experiment' but still...how do you think I did???
I love, this one. I just wish it wasn't so angled. Oh well...

I know the background could have been better... I thought the blanket might be cute... maybe if it was on the floor and the rest of the background was white.... I don't know.

In other news... Tegan went with me to school today to get started on organizing my new room... He did pretty darn good! He played in his pack-n-play for the first time... usually we just use it as a portable crib. T really seemed to enjoy it and I didn't have to worry about him tipping over and cracking his noggin' on the hard floor :) After he tired of that I put him in the Jumperoo for a while (yes, I went prepared!). After a long while I could tell he was gettin' sleepy... I had hoped he would being that it was already 10:45 and nap time usually is around 9a.m. While he slept for 30 min or so I assembled a new wheeled easel, a.k.a. wheasel. LOVE IT! I've wanted one for so long and now "I" have one... at least my program bought one for my classroom. :)

Once T woke up from his much needed, but short nap we cleaned up and hit the road as it was both our lunch times. For Tegan it was peas w/brown rice and plums w/apples. MMMMM... can't say I was jealous, though. I had left over 'tot casserole! Now that was good!!!

Well, that's all there is to tell. OH, I've been refinishing a dresser for T's room that my parents refinished 27+ years ago before I was born for me. It is now a beautiful light natural maple with a hint of white stain. Hard to describe but I LOVE it and it should match T's crib almost perfectly! All it needs is hardware, a.k.a. drawer pulls, now and it'll be 100% finished! Nothing like a trip to Lowe's in the afternoon! :) I'll post a pic soon.
Love to all!

Trouble On Wheels

at least that's what his shirt says... what do you think?Tegan actually only slept for 30-45 min, so not too long, but I thought the picture was so precious despite the fact that we get one of these pics at each race (they do start at T's naptime, so it's inevitable). Regardless, I thought the photo was a bit fitting considering T's shirt. HA!

So today was Daddy's race at Welch Village and we finally got to spend some long awaited time with Grandma and Grandpa Moore. I think the pictures tell it all:

Yes, I did say that we got to see Grandma AND Grandpa... I guess I didn't do a very good job of getting photos of T and G'dad... but I do know that G'ma took some, so I'll have to get some from her.

There's really not a whole lot else to report... I guess no news is good news. OH, I know. Have I mentioned that T is now sleeping through the entire night most nights?! Yes, that's from about 7 or 7:30p.m. until about 7a.m. Let me tell you, it's FAB-U-LOUS!!! God was listening to my prayers... He just waited a little while to answer them. :)

I'll end with my favorite picture from today. So innocent and T's eyes just POP! :) Love to all!!! ~j

p.s. for those of you who keep asking, YES, we did find daycare and we are SO excited with the woman we chose! As we knew, it all was for the better. PTL! (Praise The Lord!!!)

6 Month Stats

Here they are.... (drumroll please)
Height: 27 1/2" --- 88-90% (the sheet they gave me says 88% but the Doc said 90%)
Weight: 20 lbs 11 oz --- 95% (OINK OINK!)
Head Circumference: 43.5 (cm I'm assuming) -- 28%

There ya go... The doctor says he looks great and that all the nurses were commenting on how cute he was when I brought him in. He giggled as he said it and then added... "it's the eyes!" I do admit, he's got some mezmorizing eyes! :)
Love to all!!! ~j
OH... here's a pic of Tegan trying to blog :)

Guess Who Can Sit Up Alone?!

Yes... that'd be Mr. Tegan!!! What a big boy! (don't you just love his pj's!)
Mr. Man is now infatuated with our 2 kitties Madison and Roli (like Rollie-polie). Tegan was just staring at Roli in this pic (below) before I took it... but then he noticed the camera. :) His excitement for the kitties does lend to a few falls/rolls :)
He wants to pet them so badly but he ends up just grabbing fur and pulling the poor animals straight to his mouth... no pics of that specific action yet, but I'll sure try! :)

Well, today is T's 6 month well baby check up with the doctor, so expect a report sometime this afternoon. :) Love to all! ~jenn & tegan

6 Months Old!

Today is officially Tegan's 6 month birthday! I cannot believe he's 1/2 way to 1 year old! It's really strange! Tegan is getting really close to sitting unsupported, which is really exciting for me to think that I'll soon be able to put him down on the floor and he can entertain himself more easily. :) We haven't weighed Tegan since his last trip to the doctor... 3 weeks ago I think that was. My guess is that he's about 20 pounds... maybe 21. It makes me laugh because at 1 year old our good friend Eli (Jessica and Mitch's little guy) was 21 pounds... so interesting how each baby grows and develops so extremely differently!
So sleepy :)

On Thursday T and I spent the day with my sister Amanda. We went to lunch and then took a nice long walk around Lake of the Isles in Uptown. Tegan seemed to really enjoy it... he always enjoys being outside. It was a beautiful day for a walk, too. It did get a little warm, upper 80's probably but there was next to no humidity and we enjoyed a nice breeze off the lake. As you can see, we also got some great pictures! There are a few that A and I both with we took in color because his eyes would have just popped, but the sepia and black & white ones are still great. :)
I'm trying to think of what else is new. OH, I know... I just bought Tegan several Carter's outfits that are 6-9 months in size... they seemed so big when he first wore them and only a few weeks later they are already starting to be too short in the torso! I did, though, also buy some Old Navy clothes that are 6-12 months in size and they still fit with plenty of room to grow, so that is good. Looks like it's time to just start buying outfits that are tops and bottoms and have T wear a plain white onsie under it all to keep from bearing his belly all the time :) At least the onsies are cheap and something he's comfortable in! The only tough thing about that is that his 'little' belly is so darn round that finding pants that fit, other than knit pj pants, is sometimes tough. :) I'm not too worried, though, since he should thin out quickly once he starts crawling, which hopefully isn't too far away.
Love to all!

All OK

Just wanted to quick post that all in our family are OK and were not in anyway involved in today's horrible bridge collapse. I-35W is the highway that we almost always take to go to my (jenn's) parents house, so we travel over that bridge often... our thoughts and prayers are with those who were/are affected by this horribly tragedy! God bless!!!
