WAAAAAY Over Due

Yup... that's what this post is, way over due (though there are days that I feel like that's what this baby is even though I've got 10 weeks to go). I guess it's become a bit routine lately, posting every few weeks instead of every week. We've just been busy with work, traveling, Tegan, working, etc. I don't even know where to begin!

Hm... well, as my last "post" noted, Brendan and I celebrated 5 years of marriage on Saturday and even though our original plans changed (several times) we did have a nice day together. Tegan was SO nice to us and slept through the night Friday night, so that alone was a gift in my eyes. Thanks, Buddy! Then, being that we were at G'amma and Papa Moore's house, we had multiple baby-sitters so we basically had a day free from having to keep a watchful eye on the big T at all times. :) We made a mid-morning trip to "The Shop" to make a return and we ended up leaving with a new "diaper bag", though it wasn't originally intended to be that by it's designers I'm sure. Then we spent much of the afternoon doing... well... not too much at all. Brendan spun on the bike and I tried to nap, though without success. Still, it was nice to have the option. Finally, around 6pm or so we went to The Canadian Honker for a relaxing, but not too fancy, dinner.

OK.. I know, I know. You don't log on to this thing to hear about what Brendan and I are up to, do you? No, you log on to see what the Big Man (T) and his future side-kick are doing. Well, let's see what I can tell you. Tegan is becoming more and more independent daily. I don't think I ever realized how sly and sneaky nearly 2 year olds could be until I had one of my own. Tegan definitely has hiding spots that he goes to when he does something that he knows he's not supposed to OR when he's avoiding doing something he doesn't want to do. Currently these locations are between the love seat and the fake tree in our main floor living room. He'll go there to hide AND to do his business, HA! The other main spot he has is behind the rocking chair/glider in his bedroom when it's time for pj's and bedtime. I'll have to try and get a pic of him hiding sometime, because it's cute as can be as I think T doesn't realize yet that even when he can't see you, you can still see him (kind of like the ostrich hiding his head in the sand image we see in cartoons).

T has a few new sayings that he uses a lot are pretty cute too. One of these is "NO, not me!" (spoken in a very cute and innocent voice) and usually in response to questions such as "Did you go poop/make stinks?" or "Are you hungry/need breakfast/lunch/dinner?" Another one is his way of calling himself "Captain Tegan"... it usually comes out something like "Cat-nin Teenan". That one started when he made off into the kitchen and living room sans a diaper one night after his bath. I don't know where I came up with the nick-name but I did and called him that and it just tickled his funny bone, I guess. He also has enjoyed singing a version, HIS version, of ONE holiday song this year. It goes something like this (in his mind), "Jingle bells, jingle bells... ALLLLL-WAAAAY!" He enjoyed serenading ALL withing earshot (which is a pretty big area when he gets to the "ALL-WAY" part) at our Super Target last week. Thankfully, though, all around us (that I could see) were in good spirits and seemed to find the song beautiful. ;)

OK... one more update and then I'll be done for tonight and continue tomorrow or Wednesday. Last Tuesday brought with it our daycare Christmas party. We were curious to see how T would react to Santa as I think he wasn't too excited about him last year. Well, Mr. Social was MORE than friendly when Santa arrived and was MORE than upset when the other kids didn't want him to basically be Santa's "helper" and give ALL the presents BACK to Santa after he had handed them out. HA!

Tegan showing Santa his juice box :)

It was a sight to see and it gave all us adults a good chuckle to say the least. Thankfully the tears from T were more from having the other kids try to take their gifts back and not from being freaked out by the big guy in red. :)

Tegan Explaining to Santa that he's holding a present
Tegan ready to take the present and OPEN IT!

OH, cute encounter with another parent at our daycare during the Christmas party. A preface is that this man and his wife have pretty, um... subdued children, for example, unlike Tegan they usually walk to their destinations. Well, the conversation went something like this:
Father: "So, do you know what you're having?"
Me: "Yup, another boy."
Father: [whose son is sitting quietly on his lap and is the same age as T] Looks over to Tegan, who is running like a MAD MAN in circles around the room and laughing to the point of breathlessness, & looks back at me. "WOW! You're really going to have your hands full aren't you?!"
Me: "HA!"

BABY... I suppose you want an update on Baby, too. Well, we are still tossing around a few names, so nothing is set yet, and I have the feeling that we'll need to see this little guy in person before the final decision is made. At last check his heart rate was in the mid 140's, so getting slower, which Daddy is VERY excited about. We figure it's from hitting the [bike] trainer so much in there... it sure feels like he's training for something on most days, though I'd argue that it's gymnastics or something that involves lots of turns and spins. :) I've been having TONS of Braxton Hicks contractions lately. I've been trying to stay super hydrated, but that also causes the need to use the restroom ALL THE TIME so I've been staying hydrated but not overly-so. Thankfully nothing painful, just sometimes takes my breath away and becomes uncomfortable. Speaking of, there's one now...

All for now, more to come.
Love to all!

5 Years Ago Today!

Happy Anniversary to my love! I can't believe how fast it's gone and I can't wait to see what the next 5 years brings to us! (this isn't my favorite picture, but our wedding pics aren't downloaded to the computer...)

Another Tegan...

Ultrasound Pic vs Tegan at 2 weeks old

I wanna start with an apology... I know I didn't post this week. It's been a crazy one for me with conferences 3 of the 5 work days and then I woke up feeling extremely ill this morning, "ordered" a sub (we use an online sub system) and basically slept the day away. This is just a quick update on Baby Boy Moore:

So, we had our 2nd ultrasound today; a follow up to the first as Baby Boy had a slightly enlarged/dilated kidney. All is back to normal as far as kidney size, so our prayers were answered. We even got some more "3D" pics of the little guy and we think he looks just like T-go did when he was born... minus a little facial fat, what do you think? We don't have a scanner at home, so the best I could do was take pictures of the images... enjoy!

Belly Pic Update

Here's me at just over 26 weeks along... my hair looks funny but it's really not my hair, it's a wreath hanging on the door behind me. HA! Also included are a few pics of T and I having fun :)
In this next one Tegan is singing the song he made up about Thomas [the Tank Engine]. It goes like this, "La-la-la, la-la-la, Tho-mas!" It's too cute when he sings it. :)

Sleep update, too: Tegan has slept through the night EVERY night this week! What an awesome answer to prayers! YAY!!!

Hope you're doing well and staying warm (it's COLD here!). Love to all!

A Long Few Weeks

Well, it's been a bit of a long few weeks at our house... especially between the hours of 10pm and 7am as T has had a rough time sleeping since he got his Flu shot about 2 weeks ago. I doubt it was the flu shot that did it, but that's the same day that the bad sleep started. Let's just say T went from waking up 1 or 2 times a night to COUNTLESS times and most nights, for about a week there, he ended up in our bed by 2 or 3am... basically I would just decide I was sick of waking up to him crying and being upset. We think that there were a lot of things that compounded around that time including the flu shot, movement of his 2 year molars and a bit of a cold/cough, oh, and then we've traveled for the past 2 weekends, so that could have added to things, too (not sleeping in our own beds). Regardless of whether or not these things were causes or coincidences, it has been rough. Thankfully, days haven't been so bad as T has been taking naps well.

OK... on to happier things :) The weekend before Thanksgiving found us traveling down to Mt. Pleasant, Iowa to visit Brendan's paternal grandparents. Other than the long car ride (which Tegan handled FABULOUSLY) the weekend went well. T even got to go swimming in the hotel pool in his diaper and sweatpants (we forgot to bring his swimsuit). Unfortunately, as soon as I got the camera out T decided swimming was done. However, word on the street (aka according to Ga'ma, Papa & Daddy) is that T was jumping from the side into Daddy's arms and kicking his legs to "swim". What a big boy! (So upset I didn't get any pics of that!)

Time at Great Ga'ma's and Great Papa's house was nice too. Tegan was definitely the life of the party! It was so great to see the smiles and joy that my little man brought to the lives of his great-grandparents. Pics will come soon, but they are on my other camera.

Thanksgiving Day found us up in Shoreview visiting Ga'ma and Papa Eastwood. Aunt Amanda joined us, but T seemed to have her on his black list as it took hours for him to warm up to her. It finally took Auntie Amanda's offering of sharing "her" ice cream with Tegan to get him to even let her touch him. I guess it's just a sign that we need to spend more time together :)

On Thursday evening we drove down to Rochester to spend the rest of our Thanksgiving break with the Moore side of the family, as we don't get to see them as much as the Eastwood side. For Thursday night and most of Friday Tegan had Ga'ma and Papa Moore, Aunt Becca and Uncles Bradley and Ben all to himself. Needless to say he thoroughly enjoyed all the attention. We were a bit worried about what might conspire once Aunt Bri, Uncle Joe and Cousin Aubrey arrived (in terms of sharing attention) but we were relatively pleasantly surprised by Tegan's excitement in sharing all of "his" toys with Aubrey. He was NOT excited about sharing the attention from Ga'ma and Papa, but like I said, we expected as much... and he became more tolerant of sharing that attention as time wore on.

Sunday was Aubrey's 2nd birthday, so we got a good laugh out of her opening her presents and Tegan taking SUCH an interest in them. Let's just say that Aubrey is VERY MUCH a girl and loves all things girly and Tegan seemed to be very in touch with his feminine side. HA!

Well... I think that brings us back to the present day. I'm sure I've missed plenty, but if anything comes to me I'll post it next time. Hope you all had a fabulous Thanksgiving and remembered the reason for the holiday. God bless and love to all!

First 100+ Words

So, I've seen several of my friends post the first 100 or so words/phrases their child said and I thought it was so neat... then I started thinking, "man, I should have been a smart mom (like these other moms) and kept a list of the order of T's words." There you go, the first 120 words in ABC order (as we kindergarten teachers call it). I figured that'd be the best way to "present" them since I don't remember their order other than first was Daddy and then Mama and bai (pronounced bah-ee... who knows where he came up with that one). OH... and I forgot to include our daycare provider's name and the kids at daycare that he'll sometimes "talk" about... that'll add another 5 or so onto the list.

Hope you enjoy these silly pics and that they give you a good belly laugh :) Love to all!!!

Bedding For Our New Baby Boy

So... I have been trying to decide what I want to do for the new baby. Initially, when I was convinced I was having a girl, I decided I was going to get crafty and sew slip-covers for the bumper pads for the crib (as the ones Tegan has are removable, the covers that is)... then we found out we were having another boy and that shot that idea out the window. However, I got it in my mind that I still wanted something new for the new baby as everyone deserves a something new every now and then.

I was the oldest and I still got mostly hand-me-down stuff from older neighborhood girls and garage sales. Don't get me wrong, I love it because it was all "cool" and "trendy" stuff (though I didn't understand that those terms applied to the clothes the season prior, not the current season. HA!) Regardless of the thought that "hand-me-downs can be cool", I went looking online for some new bedding (just to see what's out there) as it's one thing I can get new that will completely change the room without spending a fortune (and subsequently getting me into the doghouse with Brendan). Surprise, surprise, the first crib bedding set I found that I LOVED(which I still find adorable) was $200! I can't say that's too expensive as I've see sets out there for $300 and $400 (or more) but it's really hard to justify that when it's just a bumper pad, a quilt/comforter (that honestly hardly gets used) and a bed skirt AND for a 2nd child of the same sex as the one you already have. SOOOO, then I thought, "Hey, I'll go searching at JoAnn Fabrics or something and find some similar fabric to make my own slip-covers and bed skirt." And that's just what I did. After school on Friday I stopped in at JoAnn to see what they had, not expecting much as the fabric I was looking for is VERY modern & trendy (something Brendan himself said that we'd look back on in 10 years and say we were crazy for buying something that ugly). I found 1 or 2 fabrics that I liked, but not loved, and they were already$35+/yd. Well, to get the amount of fabric I'd need I guessed I'd need several yards and that would put the project up over $100 in no time. Ok... so maybe I'd just stick with what I had...

Well, yesterday I was bored and looking at crib bedding again online and came across a super cute set, with the bright bold colors I was looking for and, get this, it was/is on clearance for $20, and that includes the quilt/comforter, bumper pads, crib sheet & crib/bed skirt!!! Seriously! You can't buy fabric for that cheap! So, after talking to a few friends I decided to "bite the bullet", as they say, and buy it. Well, the deal got even better, shipping was only 97cents and it should arrive within the week. All the customer reviews on it were great and I'm SO excited to see what it looks like in person. Here are the pics off the web:

Whole Set
Comforter
Crib Sheet
Bed Skirt

Bumper Pad
So that's MY exciting news for the weekend... that and we had an AWESOME pot-luck dinner at our house last night with 15 of our great friends!!! Hope your weekend was as great and "successful" as mine :) Take care and love to all!!!

Belly Update: 22 Weeks

Well, I am now 22 weeks along and starting to feel a bit uncomfortable, especially after eating. I've been experiencing a lot of braxton hicks contractions, especially at night (I'll wake up and my stomach will be hard as a rock!) but nothing painful there, so that's good. Tegan continues to say "Hi Belly" or "Hi Baby" when I lift my shirt up over my tummy. Then he'll lean in and give it a kiss... and then promptly instruct me to "close" my shirt (i.e. pull it back down). He's too sweet. Feeling lots and lots of kicks, espeically at bed time, same as the case was with T-go when I was pregnant with him. Other than my cravings (still mostly for salty stuff) I'm realizing that these two pregnancies are very similar... except now I'm not so sure I'll develop Gestational Diabetes. For the longest time I was convinced it was only a matter of time before I started feeling the effects of high blood sugar levels after eating too many carbs, but it's not happening and this is right around when I think it started with Tegan. 2 more weeks and I'll be tested again, so we'll see. Hope you enjoyed the pics... Brendan took them :)
Love to all!

Tick-O-Teat!!!

Yup, that's how Tegan says it now. It was TOO cute listening to him practice (when prompted, of course). Tonight Brendan/Daddy took Tegan out trick-or-treating with our 2 neighbors Zach (4) and Alex (2 1/2) and their dad Scott. Us moms stayed home to hand out the candy... because we don't trust the kids to take their fair share (2 or 3 pieces)... at least that was my reasoning. Tegan decided (with our help) to dress-up as a bicyclist. He wore his yellow jersey (bought for him by Grandma Eastwood even before his arrival) and Brendan's Discovery team cycling hat. He also had his helmet on for a while, but not too long. Needless to say the "costume" was a hit and Brendan got several "I knew he'd be a biker" comments (or something along those lines) :) Hahaha!
The past week and a half or so have brought some exciting changes for us. As I posted last week, we found out the Baby Moore 2009 is actually Baby BOY Moore. Brendan is very excited and, even though I was rootin' for a girl to dress-up and all that, I'm SUPER excited for Tegan to have a little brother who is so close in age to him. Our neighbors (mentioned above) are just about the same age difference as T will be with his brother and they are such good buddies!!! Now we just have to think of a name as all the names we had were for a girl.

Additionally, Tegan has been sleeping marvelously and only been waking up 1 time a night... if at all! This has been a HUGE answer to prayers as I'm the one who gets up with him in the night if/when he wakes up because Brendan "doesn't hear Tegan crying/calling out." We laugh, because T has recognized that Mommy is the one who will come to his "rescue" so whenever he wakes up enough to call out all we hear is "Mo-om. Mo-o-om-my..." Sometimes I'll lay there and hope Brendan will take a turn, but usually it still ends up being me and my (of course) very full bladder and big belly rocking T for a few minutes to re-relax him. I really still hope that it's just the missing paci that wakes him up and not bad dreams... I know how much they have bothered me all my life (bad dreams that is.)

I'm trying to think of what else is "new" but there really isn't. Tomorrow will bring a playdate with some of my coworkers' kiddos around T's age and then we'll head down to G'ma and G'pa Moore's for the remainder of the weekend as we haven't been there in a month or longer.
One more "news" item that I thought of. I got the results of my 20 week glucose test and they came back in the "normal" range, so that's great. I still have a gut feeling that I'll develop GD but I'm fine with having that gut feeling be wrong too. :)

Here are a few pics from the past week or so... T's OBSESSED with the Little Einstein's. They are on at 7am, so perfect time for shortly before or after he wakes ups. He'll either sit on the couch or... well... right in front of the TV and just get all excited about whatever their "mission" is for the day. It's especially exciting when there are choo-choo's on Einstein's; that means his TWO favorite things! There's even an episode on occasionally with choo-choos AND ice cream. You should see the energy come out of the kid when that episode is on :) HA!!!
Hope this finds all happy and healthy!!!Love to all!

Week 20 Update

Well, this week marked 20 weeks for my pregnancy... YAY! I'm 1/2 way there. Yesterday I had my 20 week check-up and the follow-up to my ultrasound and here's what I learned:
- My weight gain is good (I've gained about 10-11 pounds so far)
- I'm measuring totally normal for this point in pregnancy
- Baby's heart rate is 140bpm, so much lower than T was at this point. Brendan is super excited as he says that Baby will be ready for biking immediately. HA! :)

I also had my first non-fasting glucose test yesterday. Because I had gestational diabetes with Tegan they started testing me for GD this time at 20 weeks. I'll be tested every 4 weeks until 28 weeks. If at 28 weeks I'm still testing OK I'll be considered free and clear of Gestational Diabetes this time.

Last is news on the ultrasound. Just about everything looked good. Baby is very much a boy, we saw all his "parts" though we didn't get a print-out of them, which I'm fine with. It's not like you take a pic of it when they are born to prove it then. HA! The heart and brain and most other organs look great. The only thing that showed up was that the left (I think) kidney was slightly enlarged, so I'll go back for a follow-up ultrasound at 27 weeks to see if it's back to a normal size. They said this is super common among boys so they weren't surprised at all when I told them that the US revealed it's a boy...
OK, all for now. We're off to go play choo-choo's at Barnes and Noble. Happy Friday!
Love to all

Mamas, Papas, Bikes & Choo Choos

Ok, ok... sorry to all my disgruntled blog readers who have been anxiously (and not so patiently) awaiting a post for nearly 2 weeks... we've been busy and when we haven't been busy we've been resting. I don't know if it's just this pregnancy and or if it's from being pregnancy and being tired from being a mom (i.e. waking up to find the paci at 3 am) or what, but I've been SOOOO tired this pregnancy. UGH! BTW... before you whine about no belly pics, here are 2:
7 Weeks
19 Weeks
So what have we been up to these past 2 weeks? Well, for me it's basically been school/work and trying to catch-up on sleep while being a mommy. I've also gotten 2 girls' trips in on the weekends. A week ago I went to Milwaukee, WI with my mother-in-law and 2 sisters-in-law to see the Cirque du Soleil show Saltimbanco. I have to be honest... after seeing Cirque at the Wynn hotel in Vegas this one didn't really compare, but being that it was a traveling show it was still really neat. However, I spent the whole weekend wondering what T was doing at each moment and missing him even though I had been so excited to get away. That Saturday I tried to sleep in, but instead couldn't sleep past 6:30am. On Sunday I woke up feeling VERY ill, though I did sleep until 8ish, but then got sick before heading back home. :( Oh well... it WAS nice spending time with the extended family, so that was good.

This past weekend I made the trip down/across 94 East again, but this time it was to go to Madison with some of my former roommates for another girls weekend. I'll have to be honest and say that had I not been pregnant I probably would have had a bit more fun, but I still enjoyed myself AND got some good rest in (Saturday night... was up at 6:30 again Saturday morning). I also got to see my great friends Mackenzie and Jessica, whom I haven't seen since February or March!!!

In the time that I was gone Tegan had QUITE an exciting few weekends. On the Friday that I went to Milwaukee Tegan and Papa Eastwood went to the Model Train Museum in St. Paul. From what I heard it was a HUGE hit and Papa nearly had to drag Tegan away. BUT, not without getting a souvenir T-shirt first. :) I only wish they had taken a camera. The following day was Saturday (Oct 5) and T spent it with Aunt Amanda and several of her friends at a local apple orchard. I have to laugh because in most of the pics I've seen T has the most unenthusiastic expression on his face, but Auntie A assures me that T had a blast. :)

Sunday was a rainy day (I think) so T spent it at home with G'Ma and G'Pa Eastwood... they did try to do church, but true to form, T didn't want to be in the nursery (like he's been doing at our church the past several Sundays) so he spent it in the entryway/area with Mama Eastwood until service was done.

Tegan spent this past weekend with Daddy in Rochester (at Grandma and Grandpa Moore's house). Daddy tells me that they spent tons of time playing with toys that once were his and reading books (that once were his) and... you get the picture. Some great bonding time for T and Daddy. Then on Sunday, after an episode of Little Einsteins (complete with a plot including ice cream and trains) AND an episode of Thomas the Tank Engine, the boys (Daddy and Tegan) came home and went for a nice long bike-ride to a park several miles away and up a hill... however, upon arriving at the park Daddy found Tegan only had 1 shoe on and the other was no where to be found. Apparently the little man decided he should squeeze it out of the "door" of the Burley somewhere along the ride and despite retracing their steps/pedal strokes the shoe was gone for good. I guess that's what we get for buying him camouflage "crocs". ;)

I guess that pretty much sums-up the recent weeks. Included in those weeks but not mentioned yet was a trip up for dinner from "Grama" and Papa Moore... we all ate dinner together and then the boys assembled the remainder of the bunk beds for Tegan's future big-boy room. Tegan, of course, lent a hand :) That night also welcomed the handmade maple train table from Grandpa Moore. THANK YOU!! That table has been the biggest hit at our house and gets used DAILY! :)

Tegan and his G.I. Joe action figure "Quick Kick" :) (can you guess who got that for him???)

All for now... I'm gonna go spend some time with my honey (Brendan). Love to all!

Schoo-Schoos

Well, those are one of Tegan's favorite things right now... you probably know them as Trains or Choo-Choo Trains :) We seriously thought that T was going to have a heart attack yesterday when we found that Thomas the Tank Engine show was on PBS while we were watching TV yesterday. Tegan seriously didn't know what to do with himself he was just SO excited. It was TOO funny to see.

Tonight we decided to make it a "night-out" for the family so we took T out for his first trip to...... Chucky Cheese's! Whoa! Arcade game central... but for little kids. It was nice to see very few violent games :) Tegan's favorites were the ones that he could drive, one even took your picture for you while you were riding it, so I'll have to scan in that pic... it was cute. We also had pizza, so that was fun. I was a proud Mama being that T was the only kid I saw there who ate the veggies on his pizza!

After Chucky Cheese's we went shoe shopping for Daddy, though he was unsuccessful in his search for new running shoes (that he liked). Next we were off to Barnes & Noble to play at the train table in the kids area. THAT was a huge hit, too!

Yesterday brought a funny experience. Tegan has a bit of an obsession with shoes, trying them on, moving them from one place to another, etc. Well, after a few minutes of not hearing much from T I went looking and this is what I found. :)

I'm trying to think of any other cute stories... OH, we went to some friends' house on Saturday for dinner and they happened to have just adopted a new kitten (they named him George). Well, Tegan took a liking to George and surprisingly George liked Tegan too. It was too cute to watch George sitting in Tegan's lap and letting T squeeze/hug him and kiss him and hold him, etc. We will get some pics soon, it's just that they were taken using our friends' camera.

Then there's a bit of a not so fun story from Saturday night. Tegan decided he needed to go up the basement stairs (at our friends' house) but he didn't want help and he wanted to go up like a big boy (not crawling) and not holding onto the railing... well, he didn't make it too far before I heard a huge crash. OH, and the stairs weren't carpeted. Well, Tegan got his first goose-egg. OH did I ever feel like a horrible mother and felt SO bad for my baby! There's some good pics of that in the pics from our friends' camera too. Needless to say, I rushed to the nearest Walgreen's to pick-up some Tylenol as I didn't think to bring any, but true to his character, T bounced back in minutes and was fine by the time I got home. He's still got a bit of a bump, but nothing bad and the bruising isn't too bad, either, much to my surprise. :)

OK, that's all I can think of for this week. All with Baby is going well. I can't remember if I posted the stats as of my appointment last week, but the heartbeat was a steady and STRONG at 152bpm and we've got a VERY active little one in there as it took a while for my midwife to get the heartbeat over the Doppler long enough to calculate the bpm. GREAT! HA!

Love to all!
